IGA scientists have completed the genetic analysis of 1005 grapevine cultivars of the National Catalog of Grapevine varieties held at the CRA-Viticulture of Conegliano. The analysis was carried out using the DNA-based genotyping procedure adopted by the police worldwide to assign the identity to blood and other biological specimens.
The first draft annotated genome of peach (Prunus persica) has been completed!
Data and annotations were produced by the Istituto di Genomica Applicata and the Joint Genome Institute, members of the International Peach Genome Initiative (IPGI), as part of the DRUPOMICS project
Several resistant grape varieties have been developed by the University of Udine (UNIUD) in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Genomics (IGA) and the Vivai Cooperativi di Rauscedo (VCR) and will be released in late 2012.
September 14th, 2009 the IGA executive board has decided the creation of a commercial company which offers re-sequencing and bioinformatic services to the scientific community.
The new company, that will be operational as of September 15th, 2009, is headquartered at the Scientific and Technological Park "Luigi Danieli", Udine (Italy) and is ready to provide sequencing (Sanger method) and re-sequencing (Illumina 2nd generation sequencing technology) services as well as other products and services like genomic and cDNA libraries, forensic genotyping, BAC fingerprinting and physical maps, bioinformatic analyses and data management including client-oriented data management and remote accessing.
